About Kovalam

People who are wishing to experience the hospitality of Kerala and enjoy the aesthetic sense of Kerala choose Kovalam without further research as Kovalam is somewhat like a hub for ayurvedic facilities, beach games, cultural activities, adventurous activities and obviously forpicnics. Kovalam is a region situated within the city of Trivandrum- Kerala- ‘God’s Own Country’-India. Kovalam Beach also known as the Crescent beach consists of three major beaches – Samudra Beach, Hawah Beach and the Lighthouse Beach. All these beaches form a crescent shape. This place is famous for its shallow waters and low tidal waves, partially black coloured sand on the beach area and also for coconut trees. Kovalam Beach has a coastline that stretches over 15 kilometers making it a massive coastline. Kovalam first received attention when the Regent Maharani Sethu Lakshmi Bayi of Travancore constructed her beach resort, Halcyon Castle, here towards the end of the 1920s. Thereafter the place was brought to the public eye by her nephew the Maharaja of Travancore.
